Who You Are

An admitted solicitor or qualified barrister in England (or comparable jurisdiction) or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives, specializing in legal matters related to property transactions and conveyancing. You are adept at advising clients on various property dealings and ensuring compliance with property laws.

What the job involves

You will manage a substantial personal caseload related to residential conveyancing and commercial property matters. Key duties include:

  • Providing legal advice and drafting documents like property transfers and leases.
  • Drafting, negotiating, and agreeing on documentation to protect the Council's interests.
  • Staying updated on legal developments and advising the Principal Property Lawyer accordingly.
  • Advising on Council's powers and ensuring legal and risk-compliant decision making.
  • Representing the Council in courts and instructing Counsel as needed.
  • Supporting team dynamics and achieving service level agreements and performance targets.
  • Using the case management system for data reporting and providing updates to stakeholders.
  • Maintaining compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements under various standards.
