Social Worker (Childrens) (Grade 10)

CLA Locum Social Worker - Sedgemoor Somerset Council are looking for an experienced locum  Social Worker  to join our Children Looked After Team in Sedgemoor. The key purpose of the role is to build meaningful relationships with our children and young people, supporting them through effective care planning, and fulfilling our statutory duties and being the front line in our corporate parenting. The role... Within our Children Looked After team, you will have a manageable caseload of children and young people looked after by Somerset, across the age range from 1 to 17, getting alongside them and supporting them to achieve their aspirations. You will need experience in care proceedings, supporting children looked after, and adoption processes. Here in Somerset, our manageable caseloads let you be the innovative and creative social worker you want to be – undertaking direct work with children and young people to hear their voice and understand their experiences. You will work with parents and the wider family network, with access to family-led meeting training and Family Group Conferencing, to support them to stay connected with their families and those important to them, as well as having the benefit of a Reunification team to provide intensive support when needed. With permanent and experienced Team Managers, you'll be well supported with regular and reflective child focused supervision and personal supervision. What we’re looking for... You will need to be an experienced qualified social worker registered with Social Work England and have experience working with children and families in social work, within a Local Authority team. Experience of work within family courts is essential, as is experience of working with children looked after, ideally within adoption also. You will be passionate about relationship-based social work, proud of your profession, and able to reflect and think creatively about how you can build relationships to make a positive difference to children, their carers, and their families. You will be a competent IT user, able to use or learn to use LiquidLogic Children's System (LCS). You will need to hold a full driving licence and have access to your own vehicle as travel is required within our beautiful county and beyond to visit our children. The team for the Sedgemoor area is based in Bridgwater, and we offer flexible hybrid working, combining time spent with the teams in the office (3 days) along with home working.
