Role
Enfield has over 100 parks and open spaces that are available every day of the year. The Parks include playgrounds, major areas of countryside and sports play pitches. Part of the Parks team’s key responsibilities are keeping these in excellent condition for residents and visitors to the Borough.
Working in the Parks division is not only limited to the Boroughs parks. It may include maintaining the grass verges within the Borough and maintaining green spaces on some of the Borough’s roads and Housing estates. Some roles may require candidates to work within some the Borough’s schools maintaining their grounds. This is a very varied role and will often require travelling all over the Borough daily.
We are looking for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals with the following skills and experience.
Previous experience in grounds maintenance is Essential.
Basic horticultural machinery knowledge is Essential (Strimmer’s, Hedge Cutters etc)
Understanding of Health & Safety is Essential
Driving licence allowing up to 3.5 tonne (transit tipper) - essential, preferably with experience driving in a London Borough.
Plant knowledge is Desirable.
Previous Supervisory Experience would be an advantage but not essential.
Ability to take and understand clear instructions and be prepared to work in all weather conditions. Workers will be expected to complete physical tasks unsupervised at times. Candidates must be prepared to work as part of a team or as a lone worker when required. A good work ethic is essential. This role will require dealing with the General Public, so workers are expected to be always courtesy and polite.
We also expect all candidate to have the appropriate work boots on the first day (steel toe cap).
The hiring manager will conduct a short interview with selected candidates, they will then be expected to attend a short induction. This will be prior to start date. If successful a placement will be created, and a start date agreed for the worker.
It would be helpful when submitting candidates if you can confirm their availability on start dates.
Please note this role will require some candidates to have an Enhanced DBS (children’s), if you already have some candidates with the above experience and an Enhanced DBS, please mention when submitting.
Please note working schedule is : 7:30am – 4pm Monday to Thursday / 7:30am – 3:30pm on Friday with one hour lunch unpaid break every day ; full week total 37hours paid per week
