Who You Are
You are an experienced Environmental Health Officer with a strong understanding of environmental health legislation, particularly in housing standards, HMO licensing, and nuisance. You possess good communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and a flexible approach to your duties. You are well-versed in Microsoft Office and relevant database software and hold a valid driver's license. Experience with local authorities and handling challenging situations is preferred.
What the Job Involves
The role involves investigating housing complaints, regulating housing standards, and licensing HMOs in compliance with divisional policies and legal responsibilities. You will proactively inspect properties, provide advice to the public and businesses, and participate in formulating housing strategies. Your responsibilities include preparing statutory notices, attending court, maintaining records, and providing technical support within and outside the division. You will also engage in training initiatives and collaborative projects that require flexible working hours.
