Role
- To assist the Recycling / Refuse Area Manager with the objectives and performance targets as set out in the Streetcare (Waste Operations) Business Plan.
2. To collect municipal waste and recycling across Rhondda Cynon Taf on a daily basis in accordance with shift working patterns.
3. To be responsible for reporting any complex problems to the Collection Team Leader.
4. To be responsible for carrying out health and safety regulatory functions; for example, carrying out reversing assistant duties and the correct usage of personal protective equipment.
5. To respond to customer queries on-site, including queries from commercial premises; for example, issuing recycling bags or answering queries on collection dates and facilities etc., in line with Council procedures. Contentious or complicated queries should be escalated to the Collection Team Leader.
6. To liaise with the public when necessary to ensure the round can be safely and effectively completed.
7. To deliver recycling bags to bag distribution points if necessary.
8. To assist the Collection Team Leader to report on recycling participation figures where requested. This information is key to reporting accurate performance indicators to internal partners and other organisations such as Welsh Government.
9. To be responsible for the safe and proper use of equipment, such as mechanical bin lifts and other mechanical devices, including those attached to the collection vehicles.
10. To assist the Recycling / Refuse Area Manager to conform with regulatory functions in relation to services provided.
11. To undertake snow and ice clearance or other duties during inclement weather.
12. To assist the Recycling / Refuse Area Manager during any changing priorities, for example break-downs and road closures in accordance with Council Policies which could include a requirement to be deployed in other areas or depots to meet service need.
13. To represent a positive image of the Council and at all times to members of the public.
14. To undertake duties commensurate with the grade in accordance with the purpose and accountabilities of the post.
15. To comply with the Council’s Health and Safety Policies and procedures and undertake any relevant health and safety duties in accordance with local arrangements.
16. To support the Council to play its part in tackling Climate Change and meeting its Carbon Reduction targets across the services it delivers and also in the goods and services it buys or commissions from other organisations.
