What the Job Involves
As a Principal Planning Officer, you will be responsible for handling a range of complex planning casework to deliver strategic outcomes for the Council. Your duties include decision-making under the officer scheme of delegation, providing direction to deliver the Council's strategic priorities, and supporting senior colleagues at planning committees. You will also update and advise elected members on strategic sites, analyze complex technical information to give professional advice, balance competing demands, and negotiate agreements to ensure high-quality development. Additionally, you will sign off delegated decisions and manage a small team of officers.
