Title - Part time Cleaner Department - Children and Families Job Purpose - To provide an efficient and effective cleaning service for designated establishments
Key Responsibilities 1. The cleaning of the common rooms including classrooms and dining/kitchen area. 2. The cleaning of toilets and changing rooms to a high standard 3. Laundry of towels 4. Maintaining a high standard of hygiene including maintaining floor surfaces in accordance with the requirements of the Authority 5. Ensuring that all the exterior hard-surface areas are kept in a clean and tidy condition - including emptying of bins 6. Reporting any maintenance issues Key Accountabilities • Accountable for personal health and safety and apply at all times all relevant health and safety procedures, e.g. COSHH, Risk Assessment, colour coding and following manufacturers recommended instructions at all times. • Ensure that provided on site documentation is adhered to at all times e.g. health and safety folder. • Accountable for efficient personal time keeping, working to set agreed work standards and high levels of customer care. The post holder will perform any duty or task that is appropriate for the role described Person Specification Education and Knowledge 1. No specific qualifications, but an ability to understand on site basic training in cleaning techniques. Personal skills and general competencies 1. Puts into practice the Council’s commitment to excellent customer care. 2. Works efficiently and effectively and actively looks for ways of improving services and outcomes for customers. 3. Works well with colleagues but also able to work on their own initiative. 4. Shares the Council’s commitment to providing a safe environment for customers and staff and also treating all with respect and consideration. Experience 1. Previous cleaning experience desirable. 2. Organised and methodical approach to work. 3. Self motivated, able to work independently and complete tasks to a high standard. 4. Willingness to undertake training. 5. Ability to work as a team. Enjoys working with children and is outgoing and friendly. Ability to work under pressure, to tight time scales and without supervision. Role Dimensions 6. The Cleaner will be responsible for cleaning the common rooms, toilets and changing rooms at The Mill Adventure Base 7. Working hours will be Monday-Friday from 8:30am-11:30am. 8. The cleaner will report to the Head of Centre.
