Role

Who You Are

As an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), you are a qualified social worker with a minimum of three years of experience working with adults and their carers in community mental health settings. You possess in-depth knowledge of mental health legislation, such as the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 and the Social Services and Wellbeing Act (Wales) 2014. You appreciate the significance of lifelong learning and are committed to continuous professional development. Your role requires a keen understanding of health and safety, equalities legislation, and budgetary systems. You function effectively within a team, communicate proficiently in both writing and orally, and can assess risk and plan care appropriately.

What the Job Involves

This role involves arranging and coordinating assessments under the Mental Health Act (MHA) 1983 in compliance with mental health legislation and codes of practice. You will screen MHA referrals, work closely with the Crisis Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) and other agencies, consider hospital admissions, and plan alternatives wherever possible. Responsibilities also include administration, service development, community and inter-agency working, risk management, equal opportunities, and health and safety. Additionally, you'll maintain accurate records and contribute to team meetings and service monitoring.
